About

Hi, I’m Haydee
I’m a Christian, wife, and mom of 5.
I have been homeschooling for over a decade. I am still amazed by all the ways Christ has used motherhood and homeschooling to draw me near to him, to refine my character, and to bless me with time with my very favorite people.
I am passionate about my role in discipling my children at home. It isn’t easy. I mess up. I don’t always respond as gently as I know I should. I am so grateful for the grace of God.
Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
I need His grace to parent as He has called me to. I need His grace to wash over me when I mess up. I need His grace to flow through me to my children.

What I Believe
The Values That Shape My Homeschool

My relationship with God is a priority.
The Lord has been so kind and good to me. That is why I value my time with Him. It’s from the abundance of His love and grace that I can homeschool with peace and joy.

Connection matters for building a family culture
Having meals to prepare, chores to complete, and school lessons to do, can make connection feel more difficult. However, relationships matter more than getting things done. That is why I focus on simple ways to make memories together. From poetry treat times to meeting one on one weekly for an hour with each of my kids.

Plan for rest
It is important that rest is part of my homeschool plan. Sometimes I just need a day off from school to reset the house, to go on a fun outing, or to read in the backyard while the kids play. By homeschooling year round rest has been woven into our school year. This is how I homeschool sustainably and diligently.

Simplify for connection
Our family Gathering time aka Morning time is such a great opportunity to bring everyone together. Learning together means I don’t need various grade specific curriculum. Many topics can be studied family style. It is at these Gathering times where the word of God is read and discussed. Bible verses recited. Hymns are sung. It is a beautiful time for enjoying the beauty subjects (art, composer study, poetry, etc.) that sometimes get pushed out of a typical school day.
A Few Things You Should Know About Me

Morning Person
I have always loved waking up early. As an introvert it is also a way I can get some time alone (or with a little one joining me) to do my bible study, pray, and drink a good cup of coffee

Music Lover
Music is playing almost at all times in my home. If I am not playing it a child is. During the school day I prefer listening to instrumental music. It is beautiful and less distracting while I am reading aloud.

Avid Reader
Books are my love language. My tbr list is way too long. Most days I am reading a christian parenting book, homeschooling book, or book on faith. I tend to listen to fiction. Audiobooks come in handy when working on chores.
